Quick Tips For Surviving All Your Holiday Road Trips

Posted by admin on December 1, 2020

The holidays are here! And while that means good times spent with family and friends, for many of us it also means lots of extra time traveling to see your loved ones. This year, it’s more likely than ever, that the time you spend traveling will be in your car, so I wanted to give you my top tips for making road tripping safe and fun for the whole family.

Tip 1: Map Your Route

This may seem a bit old-fashioned with all of the tech available nowadays, especially in newer model cars, but I still think having a plan is important. Determine the type of trip you’re looking for—the fastest route, the most scenic drive. Then, put a plan in place for how you’re going to get there. There are also helpful apps available that will help you avoid road construction and traffic along the way.

Tip 2: Keep Kids Entertained

If the whole family is along for the ride, it’s important to come up with things to keep the little ones busy. In addition to loading up devices with movies and games, here’s a handy list of fun road trip games you could play that don’t involve a screen. Audio books are another great way to keep the whole family engaged on the ride.

Tip 3: Pack Some (Healthy) Snacks

While I love the junk food haul a quick stop at a convenience store can yield as much as the next person, it’s a good idea to take along some healthy snacks to balance things out. Fruits like apples and clementines travel well and are easy to eat on the go. While string cheese and nuts can provide a healthy dose of protein.

Tip 4: Make Sure Your Car Is Ready For The Trek

Vehicle maintenance is probably the last thing you want to spend money on right before the holidays, but the truth is a well-maintained vehicle lasts longer and makes road trips safer. There’s no more surefire way to ruin a holiday break with a breakdown on the side of the road, so make sure your vehicle is ready for the road before you head out.

Holiday road trips can be a slog or they can be the source of lasting memories for years to come. I hope these quick tips ensure your time on the road this holiday season is the latter. I’ll see you next time!
